thursday latelies

Happy Thursday! Just wanted to pop in to say hello and tell you all what I am enjoying this week...

1. Loose tea from Teavana. I love tea so I was pumped to see a Teavana had opened in the mall near my house. (A F21 is opening soon, as well. Score!). Their tea is so delicious...if you have a Teavana near you and love tea you should definitely check it out.

2. The weather. The last couple of days have been in the 70s. 70s! Thanksgiving is next week and it felt like June yesterday. It was a-ma-zing.

3. My new boots from Payless. I got the last pair in my size and they definitely look like they are more expensive than they really are. {Thank you to Kelly for the heads up on these lovely boots.}

4. My new lip color. Trying to avoid chopping all of my hair off in a "I need a change" moment I headed over to Sephora to look for a new lip color. I had heard good things about Clinique's Almost Lipstick in Black Honey for some time now, but I always thought it would be too dark for my fair skin. I decided to try and and it looked great! Just the berry stain color I was looking for!

holiday wish list

With the holidays right around the corner (hello, Thanksgiving is next week!) I wanted to do a holiday wishlist post. Here are some things I hope Santa brings me this year...

Amazon Kindle 3G with a keyboard. This is at the TOP of my list...especially since my library now has digital books. Score!

GPS watch. This Garmin one costs over $200.00 but I just got an e-mail from a local running store that has GPS watches for $100.00. They are for running and track mileage, pace, etc...This has been on my wish list for a while.

Brown boots. These lovelies are from Payless and I might snag them on my lunch break today. Hopefully the calf part isn't too small (fingers crossed!)

Rose colored skinny cords. I have always been apprehensive about colored pants but I am really liking the colored cords I have been seeing. There is a pair at Loft I have been eyeing.

Yoga class gift cards. Maybe I will get good enough to do that arm balance above.

A leopard print scarf.

A short chain necklace. Something delicate like the one above.

Black flats. I have brown flats...but a lot of black pants. This is more of a wardrobe stable and I just haven't been able to find ones I like.

These warm pants for running in the cold from Athleta. Nothing like a pair of cozy pants!

Fair Isle sweater-leggings

I also want these fair isle sweater leggings from JCrew (or something similar). I love these!

Whats on your holiday wishlist?

Gabrielle Giffords

Just wanted to pop in and share this with you all. I was unable to catch the Gabrielle Giffords television interview with her husband (Mark Kelly) and Dianne Sawyer but someone posted a link to the interview on Facebook so I had to share.

Here is a link to the video as well as the story.

She continues to inspire me with her strength and courage...and that husband of hers? What a man. I think he is someone that a lot of men should aspire to be.

Enjoy. :)

TGIF!

Happy Friday, everyone and Happy Veterans day!

It's been a long week (hence lack of blog posts) and I am really tired today. I am going to need a lot of this stuff to get through my day:

I hope everyone has a great weekend! Don't forget to thank someone who was or currently is in the military today! Without them we may not have the freedom to blog! : )

craving a new 'do

Happy Monday, everyone! In a recent post I mentioned about getting a hair cut. Well, I found some great inspiration for some hairstyles I would love to try {but I don't know if I am brave enough yet}...

{Saw this on Real Simple...this might be a tad shorter than I would go, but I love the cut - and color!}

Last time I took the plunge and got a shorter 'do it ended in utter disaster {and I no longer go the the salon that made me look like a q-tip} but I have a really awesome stylist now {Ashleigh at Bella Trio in Durham - she is AWESOME!) but I am still apprehensive. Yes, hair grows back...but that awkward grow-out period is just so...awkward.

Decisions decisions...

TGIF!

Happy Friday everyone! I feel like I have been a bad blogger this week missing out on both Work it Wednesday AND Thursday Latelies. To be honest, though, I feel like I just didn't have any good Work it Wednesday ideas and I thought the things I was thankful for were sort of lame and didn't warrant a post (to sum up - I am thankful for my health, my two best friends who will listen to me complain about my crazy family, my husband, and my Aunt (who seem to be the only other sane person in my family)).

I went to a yoga fusion class this past Tuesday (read: yoga with weights) and lately I have been having that "I need a change" feeling. Today I feel like I want to get my hair cut in a cute short 'do (which I always contemplate when I blow dry my hair since it seems to take forever) and become a yoga teacher. WHAT?!?! Pretty crazy, huh? I guess I get inspired every time I go to yoga class (even though I don't go on the regular).

I also can relate to this post from Linda over at Rose A La Mode. I, too, would like to move to a place like this. Sounds wonderful.

To resist the temptation to cut my hair short, maybe I just need to buy a new lip gloss at Target and call it a day?

Have a good weekend, everyone!

November...already?

Happy November, everyone! I still can't believe that there are only 2 more months in 2011. It seems like it was June, like yesterday. Oh, where does the time go?

So a while back I posted about needing a change...and I said that change was yoga. Well, I went to a yoga class the weekend following the post and I forgot how much I love doing yoga in a setting like that! Trying to yoga it up at home is too hard sometimes for various reasons. Sometimes I need the motivation of a yoga instructor and several other yoga students.

I just realized I have various free passes for yoga classes - 5 classes to be exact. I am so pumped! They are all at different studios (which is a bummer...I feel like I am cheating on my hometown yoga studio...but free is free...) so I am looking forward to doing more of this:

In other news...over the last two weeks there have been 4 incidents of a flasher on the greenway trail I run on! (link is the the news story...not a photo of a flasher. Sorry if anyone is disappointed by this) Yikes! I do often run alone (mostly because I can't find anyone to go with me) and since I was planning on a run today - I went and bought pepper spray during lunch. Hopefully my runners scowl (which I need to practice because I am really bad at looking mean) and my pepper spray will deter any flashers today. (Mostly I hope this was just a guy who lost a bet and this flashing business stops).
